  4. Security: A system cannot be hacked or hijacked and resists attacks.
  5. Explainability: When technical requirements call for human explanation, system actions and decisions are justified in understandable ways.

Trustworthiness in Social and Ethical perception:

In social and ethical contexts AI is often referred to as “responsible AI,” where it characterises competence, expertise and relatable human trust traits like reputation and good governance. Few traits of a responsible AI could be:

  1. Privacy: A system does not violate user or subject privacy.
  2. Fairness/ Mitigation of Human bias: The data and algorithms of a system prohibit bias and prevent unfair treatment towards any segment of the population.
  3. Interpretability: Humans can understand how a system functions, reaches a decision and why it exhibits particular reactions.
  4. Transparency: People have visibility into a system’s process and its policies.
  5. Accountability: The system complies with laws and policies. Its functions are traceable, and its actions are accountable.

To make AI trustworthy and keep developments healthy, it should be done in highly applied settings that demonstrate real, credible solutions to actual problems and an ability to cope robustly with live data and environments. Establishing definitions and producing effective training mechanisms for talent development in this field is best done by working in an environment where applications uncover real issues and address company needs.

Trustworthy AI requires governance and regulatory compliance throughout the AI lifecycle from ideation to design, development, deployment, and machine learning operations that are transparent, fair, dependable, respecting privacy, secure, responsible, and accountable.
